Welcome to ExponentialDave, an Investing Blog

The goal of this blog is to show people how wealth can be grown exponentially by an ordinary person. And if I fail, then people can hopefully learn from my mistakes to save themselves from some financial pain.

I intend to become a prudent financial manager of my own finances and show people the process along the way.

Nothing I say is advice, and everything I say/write is entertainment.

Why should you read this blog:

  • Maybe you shouldn't, I'm wrong a lot.

  • The companies I tend to write about are tech companies, and I am particularly qualified to write about them being that I am a software engineer with a master's degree in computer science and an undergraduate degree in finance.

  • Transparency + Results: I had a couple amazing years of investing, where I grew my portfolio 225% and then 30% consecutively. At one point, before the big drop, I was up over 500% in less than two years. Importantly, I would go on to lose most of these gains. While the money is gone, the lessons I learned along the way have been immortalized on this blog, my previous blog (exponentialdave.com), Twitter (@xponentialdave) and Saul's Investing Discussions, where I have been a frequent poster.

  • I've been investing for over 20 years. I started when I was a child, using money from mowing lawns. I spent a lot of those years reading articles on the Motley Fool from Saul on Saul’s Investing Discussions and learning from the long term buy/hold mentality of the Gardner brothers in Motley Fool Rule Breakers, Stock Advisor, Hidden Gems, etc.

How often I intend to post:

This is very important that all readers understand this: I am a regular guy writing articles for free. I have a full time job that pays my bills, family, friends, other interests, etc. I will not post monthly, weekly, or on any regular cadence. Although sometimes in the past I have posted monthly (13 monthly updates in a row from 2021 through Sep 2022), please don't think it means I will continue to do so indefinitely. My life obligations can change very quickly, and I might abruptly stop posting for a while.

My policy on jerks:

It's unfortunate I have to say this, because most of my readers are incredibly nice, intelligent, and respectful. But regarding jerks, I simply do not have the time or mental bandwidth. If I suspect a comment is even slightly derogatory or troll-ish, you will be quickly blocked and forgotten about.

What I Expect from My Readers:

Not much really - I hope you enjoy the blog! I don’t expect anything in return, but I do enjoy hearing from informed perspectives. So if you have something to say or want to ask me a question, I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. Or if you like what you're reading but don't have any comments you want to add, hitting the like button, saying “thanks” in the comments, or sharing my article helps keep everything free.

Thanks for stopping by, and may all of your returns grow exponentially!

-XD
